RSS Feeds
RSS (often referred to as "Really Simple Syndication") is a way of
formatting web content in a machine-readble format. If you have an RSS
reader (either client or web based), you can subscribe to Gyre.org RSS
feeds and receive updates every time Gyre.org is updated.
For a
more
detailed introduction on RSS and links for RSS readers, see: "What is RSS? A basic
tutorial introduction to RSS feeds and aggregators for non-technical
people".
Finding Gyre.org RSS Feeds
I've setup an RSS 2.0 feed that mirrors the 10 most current news articles
(same as the home page). Just point your aggregator
to:
http://www.gyre.org/rss/
You can also create your own feeds by simply replacing 'news' with 'rss' in the URL of your targeted search. For example,
if you are interested in news on the spread of nuclear weapons you could take the category URL for Nuclear Proliferation:
http://www.gyre.org/news/Nuclear+Proliferation
and swap 'rss' for 'news' in the URL to create an RSS feed for only Nuclear Proliferation news:
http://www.gyre.org/rss/Nuclear+Proliferation
If you are only interested in news about North Korean nuclear proliferation, the RSS url would be:
http://www.gyre.org/rss/related/Nuclear+Proliferation/North+Korea
Syndicating Gyre.org RSS Feeds
You can also syndicate Gyre.org feeds on your website by adding a few
lines of javascript code. Below is the code you need to copy and paste to
your own web page to include this RSS feed. The NOSCRIPT tag provides a
link to a HTML display of the feed for users who may not have JavaScript
enabled.
You can configure the output, including setting the CSS stylesheet, by
using the Feed2JS control panel and style tool.
(Thanks to Alan Levine's excellent Feed2Js script for
this capability)
